My TomTom will not turn on.
When you see an animation of the memory card (SD card) being removed from your device and then crossed through, the application is not (properly) installed on the memory card.
To solve this, use TomTom HOME to install the application. Follow the steps below:
- Install TomTom HOME on your computer, if it isn't
already installed. You can download the latest version
of TomTom HOME here:
www.tomtom.com/home
- Connect your device to your computer and switch it
on.
- TomTom HOME opens automatically and checks for
updates. If it does not automatically check, select
Device > Updade now
from the menu bar.
- When you are shown a list of available updates that you can download, make sure that you select the check box for the TomTom application and then click OK.
TomTom HOME downloads and installs the latest version of the TomTom application for your device.
GO 720 / 520
TomTom devices with internal memory first check the
memory card for the TomTom application. If no application is
found on the memory card, the device uses the application
and maps on the internal memory. In this case a hard drive
symbol is shown at the bottom of the screen. Once the device
has started up, you can still use maps and TomTom Services
stored on your memory card.
Example:
When you select Change preferences > Manage Maps >
Change Map, your device checks both, internal
memory and the memory card for available maps.
